Sorry to say;

I have been a huge GVB fan for years and anxiously await each new album but have never been so disappointed as I am with this new recording. The song selection seems as if there was very little effort involved. The harmonies are excellent as always but zero wow factor that everyone expects from such a great group. I’ll have to wait for the next album and hope they get the ship back on course.
Sounds like 1980’s Fairfield Four

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a bigger Gaither Vocal Band fan than me. I don’t even know what to say. This album is outdated and steps far away from anything they’ve done before. I honestly felt like I was listening to the Fairfield Four in the 1980s... And I loved the Fairfield Four in the 1980s. There’s no denying the tremendous blend that this band always has, but in regards to song selection and style I can’t rate this higher than three stars. Sorry guys, I look forward to the next album.

Would you like the good news or the bad news first? The good news is that the guys still have harmony that will make any and all vocalists just sake their heads out of pure jealousy. The bad news is that this release is not at all up to par from what we were expecting. Don’t get me wrong, I know everyone of the GVB tunes, as well as I am one in a few of the younger generation who appreciates talent over bright lights and loud noises. So for me, here is what I would say: The lyrics seemed Theologically shallow, there were too many songs that just repeated the lyrics over and over (I know there is style there but it seemed here rather lazy), no really powerful songs (better together was almost there, I heard the shift being set up, then it flattened out) that makes one just stand up no matter where they are listening, as well as some of the tunes seemed very choppy. Question: IF YOU HAVE DAVID PHELPS,WHY IN THE WORLD IS HE NOT BELTING A C5 IN AT LEAST ONE SONG? Here is the thing though, they have so much more in them, which you better believe I am ready for! Why the two stars? Well, if it was off of what normally is in the iTunes Christian genre then it would have been five stars, but since this is off their old albums, they get two. This may seem harsh, please don’t get me wrong, I just know unlike 99% percent of the music industry they have the ability do be deep which then calls us to it’s depth. When this takes place wonderful things happen. I’m excited to see what’s next!
