Song lyrics

[Produced by Disclosure]

[Verse 1: Sam Smith]
I'm feeling something, something different
When you left, my picture changed
I was blinded, I'd not envisioned...

Omen

Disclosure

[Produced by Disclosure]

[Verse 1: Sam Smith]
I'm feeling something, something different
When you left, my picture changed
I was blinded, I'd not envisioned
The same face in a different frame

[Pre-Chorus: Sam Smith]
It's an omen, caught my baby crying
Saw the silver lining
It must be an omen
Needed you to show me, without you I am lonely
(lonely, lonely)

[Chorus: Sam Smith]
My mind would rule my heart
I didn't pay attention to the light in the dark
It left me torn apart
But now I see your tears as an omen

[Refrain: Sam Smith]
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen

[Verse 2: Sam Smith]
You were waiting, I was vacant
You left before my eyes
Then it hit me, you're relocating
And I need you by my side

[Pre-Chorus: Sam Smith]
It's an omen, caught my baby crying
Saw the silver lining
It must be an omen
Needed you to show me, without you I am lonely

[Chorus: Sam Smith]
My mind would rule my heart
I didn't pay attention to the light in the dark
It left me torn apart
But now I see your tears as an omen
My mind would rule my heart
I didn't pay attention to the light in the dark
It left me torn apart
But now I see your tears as an omen

[Outro: Sam Smith]
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen
(Woah, now love)
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen
(I didn't pay attention to the light in the dark)
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen
(But now I see your tears as an omen)
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen
(Now I see your tears as an omen)
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh-Oh
Omen

"Omen" Track Info

United Kingdom production duo Disclosure teamed up with singing sensation Sam Smith for this lead single off of their 2015 album, Caracal. This is the third collaboration between the artists, with the first being the huge international hit, “Latch”, and the second being “Together”.

This catchy pop tune about a love-story gone wrong was premiered on July 27th, 2015. The release also included a music video which continues on from “Holding On”. It depicts a night of dancing interrupted by police units. The short film ended with the ominous words “to be continued”.

In an interview with Pitchfork, the brothers said the following about this track:

We're really close with Sam and we share the same managers, so it wasn't too hard in terms of linking up the date. As a guy, he's not changed at all—he's the same Sam that we met four years ago. We've all just improved and have a lot more experience with writing with other people as well as on our own. In that sense, it was different.
